Create Structure,
Maintain Order & Enhance Resident Experience
Compared to an open shelter environment, creating individual living pods and dedicated shelter work areas enhances both shelter efficiency / employee productivity and the overall shelter stay experience of its residents.
A Proflex Pod:

-
Gives people a separate, personal space for sleeping and relaxing, which fosters a sense of control at a time when they may feel overwhelmed and without any real control over what they're experiencing.
-
Creates a sense of "place" for survivors.
-
Provides residents with a place to store personal goods.
-
Helps maintain clean shelter conditions, helps residents maintain simple hygiene and cuts down on the possible spread of illness or disease.
-
Helps control interpersonal confrontations that often occur during times of high stress and overcrowding.
-
Helps the shelter staff maintain order, structure and control.

A Secure Support Space:

-
Gives support staff the necessary space for checking in new residents, performing medical exams, procedures and counseling, and administrative functions and tasks required for running the shelter.
-
Provides a private area for support staff to meet, eat and rest.
-
Provides a secure area for shelter supplies and equipment.
-
Can be used as common areas for children, pets and other segments like the mobility challenged or elderly.
-
Provides quarantined areas for the sick or injured when an area's medical facilities are overwhelmed or transportation to the facility is not possible.
